Solutions for Landowners & Nonprofits

Do you have unused or under-utilized land? Solway can turn your empty field, back lot, or church grounds into a significant source of income – at no cost to you. Our program is designed for property owners, churches, and nonprofits who want a no-hassle, zero-investment way to support their mission or bottom line.

What We Offer:

Solway offers a long-term land lease for a battery storage installation, providing your organization with steady rent payments for 25 years. Solway covers all costs for development, construction, and maintenance. You provide the land; we provide the expertise and capital.

Benefits to You

01

Reliable Revenue, Zero Expense:

Enjoy a new income stream (often tens of thousands of dollars per year depending on project size) with no upfront investment. We even handle insurance and taxes related to the project – your only “job” is to cash the checks. This stable income can be transformational for nonprofits and landowners, supporting budgets, ministries, staff, or maintenance needs for decades.

02

No Impact on Operations:

Our battery systems are quiet and unobtrusive. They have no emissions, no odors, and minimal noise (a slight hum similar to an HVAC unit). We typically site the containers away from buildings and can add landscaping or fencing to screen them from view. The system connects directly to the power grid with its own meter, so it will not interfere with your facility’s electricity or activities. There are also no daily staff or traffic once construction is complete – it’s a passive installation, not a busy site.

03

Safety & Security:

Solway’s projects meet rigorous safety standards: the batteries are housed in secure, safe, metal enclosures with 24/7 monitoring and automatic suppression systems. We coordinate closely with local officials (no project moves forward without local sign-off. Comprehensive liability insurance is in place throughout the lease, protecting you and your organization fully. We put safety first – protecting your property, congregation, and neighbors is our highest priority

04

Minimal Footprint, Preserved Land:

A typical battery installation might use only a quarter-acre or less of land (for example, ~5,000–10,000 sq. ft. for a 5 MW system). We work with you to choose a site on your property that is out of the way – perhaps a corner of a field or an unused parking area. Nothing else on your land needs to change. Furthermore, when the lease is over, we remove all equipment and restore the land to its original condition (or better). Hosting a BESS is not permanent; it’s a long-term rental, with full cleanup guaranteed.

05

Mission Alignment:

For many nonprofits and churches, partnering with Solway is about more than money – it’s also a statement of environmental stewardship. By hosting a battery storage site, you are directly facilitating the reliability of the local power grid and helping prevent brownouts in your community. The funds you earn can further your mission (whether that’s expanding charitable programs, maintaining historic properties, or launching new initiatives).

We Handle the Details

Worried that a project like this might be complicated? We make it easy. Solway’s team manages every detail end-to-end, keeping you informed along the way. Our services include: site engineering, utility negotiations, permitting and town approvals, procurement of the battery units, construction management, operational monitoring, and compliance reporting. You will have a dedicated Solway point-of-contact (often one of our partners) who will guide you through the simple agreements and answer any questions that arise.
